How to Design a Versatile Nursery That Grows with Your Family

Today, I’m going to share all the essentials for a nursery that will grow with your family. There is something so special about designing and planning a nursery. After all, this room will soon house the most precious human being in your house. Serena & Lily recently launched a new nursery collection, and I have to say it is stunning!

I’d like to extend a huge thank you to Serena & Lily for partnering with me in this sponsored post. Essential Nursery Must-Have #1: Convertible Crib

The crib is probably the most important piece of furniture for the nursery. I like cribs that are convertible and that can be used until your little one is ready for a big bed. Also, opt for more gender neutral cribs that can be utilized again (especially if you plan to have more babies!). I had two baby girls, but the crib I chose would have worked for either gender. I love the look of Webster convertible crib by Serena &  Lily; it’s so classic, and you can mix and match with so many different styles.

Essential Nursery Must-Have #2: The Nursery Glider

One of my biggest regrets when I did Sophia’s nursery was not adding a nursing chair. Since space was limited I ended up not getting one and I wish I had had one so badly! Now, when looking for the perfect chair, make sure it is tall enough so you can rest your head. Since breastfeeding some can some-times take hours, you will need to rest your head to be comfortable. I’m also loving rattan chairs as a alternative to the usual glider like in the picture below. It adds that natural element to the room, and you can throw in some pillows to make it even cozier.
Another must have on my list: poufs or stools. When nursing, its essential to have a place to rest your feet. The Maroccan ones from Serena & Lily are perfect and cute.

Essential Nursery Must-Have #3: Patterned Wallpaper

Wallpaper is one of my favorite decor items for a nursery. I used it in Olivia’s nursery, making it one of my favorite rooms in the house. You can do just one accent wall like I did or do the whole room. The new wallpaper collection from Serena & Lily it’s gorgeous. There are so many options to choose from and the elephant one is my favorite. It would look good in a baby girl’s nursery or a baby boy’s nursery.

Essential Nursery Must-Have #4: Nursery Dresser and Changing Tray

I like the idea of a full dresser for a nursery instead of a changing table. Mostly because babies will outgrow a changing table very quickly. A full dresser will grow with your baby until they are teenagers. Plus, it will provide a lot more storage for all the baby’s needs. You can use the changing trays from Serena & Lily on top of the dresser and remove once your baby has outgrown the changing station and have the best of both words! A changing table for when the baby is small and a beautiful dresser for when they grow up.

Essential Nursery Must-Have #5: Baskets

Baskets are another must have in a nursery. After all, you will need a place to store all those little toys. I like the ones with lids for storing away toys and blankets. But I also like a regular basket full of plush toys or books by the reading nook. Baskets are also great options to store away toys in the last shelf of the closet. Store away seasonal clothes and toys in cute baskets to keep everything organized!

Below are some mood boards that I created using the new Serena & Lily Nursery collection. I hope they provide some inspiration for your own nursery!

Love the neutral, pastel colors and gentle pink theme! All of the items you chose are so cute. The crib, the chair, patterned wallpapers, they all look so magical together. Your baby is going to enjoy here and I’m sure you’re going to make some beautiful memories in this nursery. 🙂
