Affordable window treatments: the best cheap curtains & blinds for your home!

Finally getting around to share all my affordable window treatments and how to get the look of expensive window treatments on that beer budget!!😜

When we first moved in, we had a company come and give us an estimate for shades for these 3 windows and the kitchen window. When they sent over the prices I almost had a heart attack: they wanted 7k for 4 windows. Shades alone!

Say what?!! If I’m paying 7k I better have all my windows done. Even like that I thought it was way too much money. Since I was not about to spend a small fortune in window treatments I turned to my favorite affordable: IKEA!

For all my windows in the first floor I used these linen ikea curtains. To be honest with you I wish I had just had bought the Ritva instead. When I got a pair of the Ritva, the material is just as good as the linen curtains and the price is even better. The Ritva is also a more true white, while the linen has a more yellow undertone. So my recommendation? The Ritva is an excellent curtain and at only $30 for the pair it is the cheapest and best curtain out there.

For reference I have 9ft ceilings and my curtains are 118 long.

Affordable Curtain Rods

These curtain rods from Amazon are the most affordable and the best quality rods I ever bought. I have them in all of my windows. Even for the longest one (144in) it’s only $37!! They are also on prime so you can get them super fast!

Affordable Bamboo Shades

To complete the look of the downstairs windows I added these bamboo shades. Adding shades to your windows will for sure elevate the look of your window treatment.

These bamboo shades are my favorite. They are super affordable, look high quality and are super easy to install. I paid $46 for each. Now, these shades are light filtering. If you are looking for room darkening these are probably not for you. You can also see through it. For now, I’m loving it. My neighbors are not that close that I need full privacy. Maybe in the future I could add I liner to it myself, right?

Affordable Bedroom Curtains

For the master bedroom I choose these velvet blackout curtains. They are probably the most popular item in my house. And is easy to see why: they are beautiful, excellent quality and still pretty affordable. Each panel costs around $46 (when on sale). They also come in many different colors. Mine is the ivory.

For reference, the upstairs have 8ft ceilings and I used the 98 length. When it comes to installing your curtains, you want to go as high as possible to give the illusion of taller ceilings/windows. Notice how my rods are just an inch or two from the ceiling.

Affordable Kids Curtains

For both the girls bedroom I used Restoration Hardware Baby curtains in velvet. They are blackout and really good quality as well. They are not the cheapest out there but they are very heavy and I just love the color.

Unfortunately, RHB discontinued the blue color. It was such a pretty color too. The pink one is still available.

Hi! First and foremost, love your decor! Iโ€™ve been looking into velvet curtains for awhile and want to make the right decision. I just wanted to confirm the color you bought. From the product description photos online, the Ivory looks soooo white. I saw some in an Au Lait Creme color. Iโ€™m so worried Iโ€™ll get the wrong color and wanted to make sure you got the Ivory color. Thanks!

From amazon is the light beige https://rstyle.me/cz-n/dk7pdub48gx I think my filter makes it look a little more pinky then it actually is. Is definitely a true ivory ๐Ÿ˜˜

This room is just so beautiful! Iโ€™m really curious if you know what color the walls are painted. I want to do white but I canโ€™t decided on a paint color and I have a similar look in my guest room!
